The customer, who has specific requirements on the barge berthing planning for its Hong Kong operations, is the largest private container terminal operator in the world. In order to automate barge berthing schedule according to job orders, resource availability of cranes, barges to allocate, and parameter weightings to determine barges berthing priority, Armitage has developed and implemented a Barge Berthing Planning System (BBPS) to address the needs.
BBPS is a client-server based system developed by Java development platform and run on Oracle 10g database. BBPS is directly interfaced with the major terminal operation management system of the port. After the successful implementation of BBPS, the customer can plan for the barge berthing operations in a more efficient and effective way.
The second phase of the project will be implemented which will further enhance the system functions and features.
